The first in a new series of ‘Advanced Applications in Systems Engineering’ books, ‘Implementing MBSE into Your Business – The Trinity Approach’ is aimed at Practitioner-level Systems Engineers and draws on the authors’ decades of experience applying and deploying MBSE in companies of all sizes. This book is about implementing MBSE in an organisation and is aimed at Practitioner-level Systems Engineers. This book is not an introduction or primer for MBSE, nor is it aimed at awareness-level Systems Engineers – these people should read ‘Don’t Panic! The Absolute Beginners’ Guide to MBSE’, then come back.
The book is published by INCOSE UK and was officially launched in November 2020 at the INCOSE UK Annual Systems Engineering Conference.

‘Implementing MBSE into Your Business – The Trinity Approach’ is written by Jon Holt (current Technical Director of INCOSE UK) and Simon Perry who, between them, have written 17 books on Model-based Systems Engineering.
The use of MBSE as an approach to realising successful Systems Engineering is becoming more prevalent as time goes on, leading to an anticipation that the INCOSE 2025 Vision that all Systems Engineering will be model based looking increasingly likely.
Whilst the theory and practice of MBSE is becoming more mature, one of the biggest obstacles in realising the full benefits of an MBSE approach is how to develop a strategy in order to plan and, ultimately, realise its implementation in an organisation.
Unfortunately, many organisations rush into buying MBSE tools and training courses, without any forethought. It is essential that an organisation understand the reasons why it is adopting MBSE, what its current MBSE capabilities are, what future MBSE capabilities it requires and how to plan to evolve in terms of its people, processes and tools in order to achieve its future goals.
This book is aimed at Practitioner-level Systems Engineers and draws on the authors’ decades of experience applying and deploying MBSE in companies of all sizes. It introduces the Trinity approach to MBSE implementation, which provides a toolkit to help organisations determine their reasons, capabilities and planned evolution for an effective MBSE implementation.
